Charles D. Gavrilovich, Jr. (“Chuck”) brings extensive legal and
technical experience to the partnership. Prior to the merger, Mr. Gavrilovich
was the founder and sole attorney in a professional corporation focused on providing
patent preparation and prosecution services to large corporations as well as individuals,
small companies and startups. Before founding his own firm in 2002, Mr. Gavrilovich
was an attorney in the patent prosecution group of Gray Cary Ware and Freidenrich,
LLP, San Diego’s largest law firm, where he provided U.S. and international
patent preparation and prosecution services as well as legal opinions, patent
litigation support, patent portfolio management, and other strategic counseling.
During his career he has prepared and prosecuted numerous patents directed
to devices, systems and methods related to various technologies including telecommunications,
radio frequency circuits, fixed and mobile wireless communications, data communications,
computer systems and software, Internet systems and software, semiconductors,
analog and digital circuits, optical communications, smart cards, video communications,
multimedia systems, wireless internet systems, business methods and mechanical
devices. He has further demonstrated his technical expertise by authoring a technical
article published by IEEE Communications Magazine, a telecommunications industry
publication known for its strict requirements for publication.
After receiving a bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering from
the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana, Mr. Gavrilovich worked as a radio
frequency design engineer at Motorola for over five years. He continued to work
full time as a patent engineer and patent agent at Motorola while attending law
school. Mr. Gavrilovich received his law degree from The John Marshall Law School
in Chicago, a law school nationally recognized for its intellectual property law
program. After practicing as an in-house patent attorney at Motorola, he entered
private practice by joining Brown, Martin, Haller and McClain, San Diego's oldest
intellectual property law firm. Mr. Gavrilovich is admitted to the California
and Illinois bars and is registered to practice before the United States Pat ent
and Trademark Office.
