Charles D. Gavrilovich, Jr. (“Chuck”) brings extensive legal and technical experience to the partnership. Prior to the merger, Mr. Gavrilovich was the founder and sole attorney in a professional corporation focused on providing patent preparation and prosecution services to large corporations as well as individuals, small companies and startups. Before founding his own firm in 2002, Mr. Gavrilovich was an attorney in the patent prosecution group of Gray Cary Ware and Freidenrich, LLP, San Diego’s largest law firm, where he provided U.S. and international patent preparation and prosecution services as well as legal opinions, patent litigation support, patent portfolio management, and other strategic counseling.

During his career he has prepared and prosecuted numerous patents directed to devices, systems and methods related to various technologies including telecommunications, radio frequency circuits, fixed and mobile wireless communications, data communications, computer systems and software, Internet systems and software, semiconductors, analog and digital circuits, optical communications, smart cards, video communications, multimedia systems, wireless internet systems, business methods and mechanical devices. He has further demonstrated his technical expertise by authoring a technical article published by IEEE Communications Magazine, a telecommunications industry publication known for its strict requirements for publication.

After receiving a bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering from the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana, Mr. Gavrilovich worked as a radio frequency design engineer at Motorola for over five years. He continued to work full time as a patent engineer and patent agent at Motorola while attending law school. Mr. Gavrilovich received his law degree from The John Marshall Law School in Chicago, a law school nationally recognized for its intellectual property law program. After practicing as an in-house patent attorney at Motorola, he entered private practice by joining Brown, Martin, Haller and McClain, San Diego's oldest intellectual property law firm. Mr. Gavrilovich is admitted to the California and Illinois bars and is registered to practice before the United States Pat ent and Trademark Office.
